LEVEL CROSSING
CONTROLLER |
|
|
|
The
level crossing controller operates a British style automatic half barrier
crossing. Two sets of lights can be controlled, each consisting of an
amber and two red lights. Relay contacts (B1, B2, B3) are provided to switch a slow
motion point motor or memory wire to operate the barrier. As the train
approaches the amber LEDs light for a short time, after which the red
lights flash alternately until the train clears the crossing. Whilst the
red lights are flashing the "B1" and "B2"
terminals are connected by the built-in relay. |

Operation
may be either manual with an on/off switch or automatic. For single line
operation two IRDOT-1 or two reed switches are required, one either side of
the crossing, connected to "D1" and "D2". For double
track four IRDOT-1 or four reed switches are required. Detectors on one line
connect to "D1" and "D2" and on the other line connect
to "D3" and "D4". Trains may approach from either
direction, the Level Crossing Controller will work out if the train is
approaching or leaving the crossing. Terminal "Sw " is provided
for manual operation by a switch. 3mm diameter LEDs are supplied fitted to
the Crossing Board screw terminals, the associated resistors are built
into the board. Different sized LEDs can be substituted for the supplied
ones. To minimise wiring the red LEDs are fitted back to back so that only
two wires are required. (The polarity at terminals RB reverses to flash
each in turn). |

GRADE CROSSING
CONTROLLER |
|
|
|
This
is for crossings that only use pairs of alternately flashing red lights
such as crossings in the USA and Canada. Immediately upon detecting the
train the pairs of red LEDs flash. Otherwise operation is the same as
described for the level crossing controller. |

GRADE CROSSING
CONTROLLER FOR FALLER BARRIER KIT |
|
|
|
The
Grade Crossing Controller can be supplied adapted to operate Faller
crossing kits. This controller gives a 3-second closure of the relay upon detecting
an approaching train and a second 3-second closure of the relay as the
train departs. These times are required to start the Faller motor
rotating. |
