KATO UNITRAK POINTS |
|||
| Switching Kato Unitrak Points. | |||
| Kato Unitrak Points have a built in point motor which has a 2 wire connection. The point is thrown one way by a positive pulse of electricity along one wire and thrown the other way by a negative pulse of electricity along the wire. | |||
| There is a box on the left marked “AC power supply”, this can be provided by the AC output of the controller (for example the output for lights) or a plug in power supply. A DC supply will not work. The output of the transformer should be from 12 volts up to 16 volts. An output of a higher voltage may damage the point motors | |||

The
points have two wires, one black and one red leading
from the point motors. These
wires end in a connector. To obtain access to the wires the connector
must be cut off and the end of the wires bared. One terminal of the
power supply connects to every black wire.
The other terminal of the power supply is connected to 2 diodes. One of these diodes converts the AC power supply into positive DC the other to negative DC. A silver band shows which direction the current flows through the diodes. Depending upon which way the toggle switch is thrown it will connect either positive or negative to the red wire and so switch the point in the required position. |

| The same method can be used with our SA boards to switch Kato Unitrak points. | |||
